Alesia Thomas, a wonderful mom, sister, relative and friend, has passed away this January 18, 2024 after a long battle with illness. Alesia is survived by her sister Kim, brothers King Jr and Dwayne, and her lovely mother Annie Bell. Alesia is also survived by her youngest son Nicholas, her daughter-in-law, Alicia, and her wonderful grandson, Jeremiah.
Her mother and siblings, nieces and nephews, (and great-nieces and nephews) remember wonderful times with Alesia and her selflessness. Alesia’s sister, Kim, remembers a time Alesia came to her classroom to comfort her when she was six and had to choose a different “big sister” from another class. Kim said Alesia stayed by her side until she stopped crying. As a doting grandmother, Alesia loved hugging and holding her grandson, Jeremiah. JJ was delayed in speaking but that did not stop Alesia from teaching him to call her “Glamma.”

Alesia was born in Mississippi to Annie Bell, and grew up with her mother, step-father King Lovett, and her siblings. They moved to Escondido, CA where Alesia graduated high-school. Alesia married into the Schexnayder family right after high school and gave birth to her number-one-son, Anthony. They lived in Vallejo, CA and moved to Fairfield, CA after giving birth to her youngest son, Nicholas.
Alesia had more than 30 years working in police dispatch, and finally retiring from the Vallejo Police Department in 2018, with a standing ovation for her service there. Alesia took prode in her career and would promote the position to her family members and friends, who have often described that it was Alesia who helped them move into law enforcement.
Alesia had a love for music, shopping and good food. Nicholas recalls day trips to Sacramento with plenty of shopping, but he would hide in the racks to scare his mother, as any 90s baby would. Nick recalls that Alesia was not amused at his antics. After eating at a local restaurant they would make the drive back home with great music in the car like Temptations, Motown, Diana Ross, and Luther Vandross. The passing of Luther Vandross was hard on Alesia, and Nick has played some of his music to help remember fond memories of her.
