William Chandler, affectionately known as "Sweet Willy," passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14th, at the remarkable age of 94.8. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he spent his formative years growing up in Minnesota. A proud veteran of the Korean War, Bill served his country with honor and distinction. A master of the printing trade, Bill worked as a typesetter/Linotype operator for various publications, including Sunset Magazine and the San Jose Mercury News. His dedication to his craft and meticulous attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret "Jan" Chandler. He is survived by his brother, Tom Chandler, and four children: Katherine Saunes, Bill (Cletia) Chandler, Jeff (Erin) Chandler, and Sharon (Ron) Gascon. His legacy extends to seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, cousins and wide circle of nieces, and nephews. An avid cribbage enthusiast, Bill cherished his Tuesday game adventures with friends, always striving for the elusive perfect hand—29. His love for the game and his vibrant spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Bill Chandler's life was marked by his dedication to family, his impeccable work ethic, and his endless repertoire of Dad Jokes. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.
