among 8 children (3 brothers and 5 sisters). She lived in Hong Kong for 33 years. In 1978, she
immigrated to New York together with her family of 4 in search of a better life for her children.
She had strong family values and believed that each person is fundamentally good in nature.
She instilled these principles to her two children. She always placed her family first before
herself and her sacrifice will not be forgotten. She enjoyed cooking and was the best host to all.
Her son’s university friends still recalled her cooking for a bunch of people when they went to
NYC during school break, “…so warm and welcoming!”
In 1997, Wai Yin and her husband moved from New York to California. They joined the local
Christian church, and both were baptized in 2001. They made many friends at West Valley
Christian Alliance Church and had great fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.
Over 13 years ago, she suffered an irreversible stroke which resulted in impaired speech. It was
her greatest challenge because she was very sociable and friendly. She endured frequent re-
admissions to the hospital and treatment at the dialysis center three times a week. Her strong
faith in God strengthened her will to live.
Her positive outlook in life, unending dedication, and unconditional love for her family,
exemplified that she was an amazing mother, spouse, and friend. She is survived by her 2
children (Stephen and Stephanie), 2 grandchildren (Katelin and Stephen), daughter-in-law
(Katie), and son-in-law (Puay). She lived a fulfilled life and will be missed by many.
May she rest in peace.
