On April 7, 2023 Virginia Rose entered into her final rest. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was 99 years, 2 month and 4 days old. A lifelong San Jose, California native, Virginia was well-loved by her family and friends which she cared for deeply. She provided endless support and love to her family working tirelessly to provide opportunities for them. She would proudly boast about all her children, family and friends to all who would listen.
Virginia leaves a significant vacancy in her family’s lives. She was a Loving devout wife, mother, grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to so many. Virginia was a truly a beautiful and caring person, who has had a beautiful long and gifted life.
Virginia was a native of San Jose California where she lived for 99 years and lived in the same home for 78 of those years. She lovingly gave her support not only to family and friends; but her other passion was donating time to causes that were significant to her through community service. Her love of literacy, teaching primary education, and focus as a reading specialist made a significant impact on so many lives.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Paul and leaves behind; 3 sons - Paul, and wife Carol; Dave and wife Karen; and Alan and his wife Jayne, 5 grandchildren; Nate, Schuyler, Megan, Jeff, and Sean. She also had the joy of being great grandmother to 5; Benjamin, Nora, Harrison, Wesley, and Hudson.
Virginia was a member of many different organizations such as the Catala Club, Phi Lambda Theta, the Santa Clara Reading Council, California Teachers Association and others. She donated her time and energy into not only those organizations but also many other places starting with volunteering at Alexion Brothers Hospital in 1970, The San Jose Historical society, the San Jose Tech Interactive Science Museum and Holy Family Church.
Her Love for travel took her around the world and to all but two states in the United States. She collected many memorabilia, which she treasured greatly over her long and gifted life. We believe that she is now in heaven with God and her family and friends that preceded her in death.
Virginia will have a private burial. Additionally, there will be a Celebration of Life on May 12th, 10AM at Holy Family Church – 4848 Pearl Ave. San Jose, ca. 95136, where all are invited.
