Teresa was born on October 16, 1954 in Palo Alto, California and lived her earliest years in the small unincorporated Santa Clara County town of Monte Vista, until she was about 8 years old when her family moved to San Jose, California. She was the daughter of Manuel and Lupe (Garcia) Romo and was one of four beloved siblings, Frank (deceased), Patricia, and Robert.
Teresa attended Thomas P. Ryan Elementary School, Clyde L. Fischer Middle School, Mt. Pleasant High School, and San Jose City College. She began her career as a Credit Union data entry clerk drawing on her extraordinary ability to type greater than 60 words per minute. She moved on to work at Diveriscom as a real estate corporate document control coordinator. She then accepted a position with the General Electric’s Nuclear Energy Division having responsibility for copy operation and continuing on to advance her career in graphic design and as an event coordinator. She retired in 2019 after holding a position as an operations manager with Xerox. She was active in her church and church choir for a number of years.
What she cherished most in life was being with family and her beloved chihuahuas. She had a passion for creating crafts and she excelled in this talent. Her creations became treasured keepsakes and displays by many lucky recipients. She designed many amazing gift adornments many of which meant searching through her precious collection to meticulously chose and in many instances reuse the perfect ribbon and/or bow for each unique creation.
Teresa was beautiful and had a cheerful and contagious zest for life. She possessed the qualities of a genuine person who was undeniably devoted to her family and her life-long friends. She was kind, generous, thoughtful, funny, insightful, strong and brave and most of all, she had a heart of gold.
Teresa and Benjamin Guzman began their loving 50-year life together in San Jose in 1974. Husband Benjamin Guzman, sister Patricia Flores-Kushman, brother Robert Romo, nieces, nephews, and numerous dear friends survive Teresa. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park in the “Chapel of Roses”.
