On the morning of Friday August 1, 2014 Shirley Marie Collis lost her battle with cancer and passed away just a month shy of her 80th birthday. Shirley was born in San Jose CA on August 22, 1934 as the daughter of Mary and Fred Angotti. She was preceded in death by her son Nasario Curtis Guerrero and leaves behind her only daughter and best friend, Cindy Breidenthal whom was by her side when she passed. Shirley is survived by her 7 grandchildren (Angela, Raquel, David, Rebecca, Victoria, Curtis and Johnny) and 3 great grandchildren (Jayden, Nasario, and Gabriella).
As a young girl Shirley danced and sang opera. She was a long standing Lockheed Martin employee and a devoted caring mother. She frequented the casino slots when she could in her younger days and always had a hot cooked meal on the stove. Shirley’s favorite musicians were Barbara Streisand, Judy Garland, and Frank Sinatra. Shirley was known as the neighborhood animal lover, always leaving nuts and seeds for the ducks, birds, and squirrels. She loved every dog that pranced past the big bay window of her home in San Jose in which she resided for over 50 years. Shirley loved her beagle Scrapper, Oprah, shopping, getting a good perm, and watching Tiger Woods lose in any golf tournament. She was quick as a whip and friends would describe her as feisty, yet compassionate and full of vip and vim.
Shirley would do you one better than give you the shirt off her back, she would give you your own and prepare you a home cooked meal. She will be dearly missed by her friends, family, and the animals.
Shirley’s rosary will be held at The Willow Glen Funeral Home at 1039 Lincoln Ave. San Jose, CA 95125 on Wednesday August 6 at 7:00PM. Her memorial service will be held at St. Francis Cabrini Church on 15333 Woodard Road San Jose, CA 95124 on Thursday August 7 at 10AM.
