It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sergio Rivera, aged 56, of San Jose, California. Sergio left this earth on Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, grandpa, and friend.
In addition to having a vibrant spirit, Sergio was truly, truly good. He was the life of every party, and loved nothing more than grilling for friends and family at his home that he shared with Precy, his beloved wife. He also loved rock and roll – like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, and Jimi Hendrix - Bay Area sports, camping and fishing in the northern Sierras, and all rivers and lakes.
Sergio was the most selfless person when it came to his family and friends. He was our rock, our gathering place, the calm in every storm, and the brightest light in any room. He left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Sergio is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 23 years, Priscilla Deocampo; his parents for which he was a devoted son - Luis Rivera and Guillermina Rivera; his six sisters who will always remember him as ‘the best brother / brother in-law ever’ - Leonor Rigel (married to Mark Rigel), Veronica Baker, Raquel Balestrieri (married to Joe Balestrieri), Luvia Hsu, Norma Rivera, and Liset Rivera (married to Neil Eckardt); his niece and nephews – Marisa Rigel, Matthew Rigel, James Balestrieri, Luca Eckardt, and Ian Hsu - who can all attest to Sergio as having been ‘the best uncle ever’; his grandchildren - Daysia Torres, Charlize Torres, and DJ Torres; and Dave and his wife, Rosalyn Torres, with Dave having seen Sergio as his second dad. And of course, a huge group of Sergio’s adoring cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Please join Sergio’s family to honor and celebrate the beautiful life he had.
