August 6, 2015 at 3:06a. She was surrounded by her loving family and passed
peacefully in her daughter's home in Hollister, CA.
Rosa began her 88 years of life in Wasco, CA. She was born to Maria and Arcadio Torres and was the
firstborn of their 11 children. As the eldest, much of her joy was in being a
part of the lives of her younger siblings. Throughout her life she prioritized
her family and was known as a great caretaker to them all. She exhibited
abundant care and concern for everyone and everything she loved. From family to
pets to her garden, they all benefited from her love and sweet touch. Rosa was a
devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known in her immediate family to
be feisty, passionate, soft-spoken, kind, determined, and generous to name a few
things. Rosa was self-sacrificing and a woman of true strength. She stood firm
in faith and was not easily shaken by life's circumstances. One of her favorite
sayings was "God willing". She said this often and truly believed that her life
rested in the hands of God at all moments. Rosa was always poised and presented
herself with much dignity even until the end of her life.
She was diagnosed with Dementia followed by Epilepsy the year before her passing. She gave us joy
by expressing her love for us with frequent kisses and "I love you's". Every
night at bedtime after the Lord's Prayer, she would express her appreciation and
love for those who cared for her, followed by a "God bless the whole family!"
She loved to talk about her life as a child very much and spoke fondly of her
parents and family. Rosa was happy and at peace even in the midst of physical
pain and mental confusion. She gave us happiness with her quick wit and ready
smile, which will never be forgotten.
Rosa is survived by her son Robert Reyes, daughter Marylou Martinez and husband Tim Martinez. Grandchildren Natessa
