Robert Chavez, beloved husband, father, son and friend, passed away in his sleep on Sunday morning, the 12th of July, 2015. He leaves behind the loves of his life, his wife, Rebecca, and their three beautiful children, twins Benicio and Lena, 8, and Carlos, 3. He is also survived by his parents, Dee and Dave Rovai and his brother, Tony Rovai of Chandler, AZ, his father, Robert Chavez and wife, Deborah Sinclair of San Jose, along with grandmothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends too numerous to count. Robert was known for his infectious laugh and for his ability to see the big picture in any situation. He was so generous with everyone, hardworking, and ultimately dedicated to all of his family. Robert’s example of loving kindness is his legacy.
He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, and spent most of his younger years in San Jose. At the age of 15, the family moved to Hollister, California, where he graduated from San Benito High in 1993. Robert was a natural athlete, and excelled in sports. He was a devout lifelong Seattle Seahawks fan. Robert played Pop Warner football in San Jose and in high school played fullback for the Hollister Haybalers as well as for the Dublin Dragons. Rebecca and Robert were high school sweethearts and best friends. They married in Pismo Beach, CA, on March 1, 2003. After living in Dublin, Ireland, for a short time, they settled in San Jose. Robert has worked for PG&E the past 8 years. Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1336 Cherry Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125 on Saturday the 18th of July. There will be a gathering to share joyful memories of Robert’s life with his family at 11 am, and the Memorial service will be held at 12 noon.
