Feb. 22, 1954 – Sept. 15, 2013
Resident of Campbell, California
Richard "Rick" was born in Chicago Ridge, Illinois, to the late Richard and Dolores Browne and passed away last Sunday after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Rick graduated Willow Glen High School (’72), San Jose State University (’76) and Santa Clara University (’79), where he received his MBA. Rick valued and enjoyed spending quality family time with his many relatives and often vacationed in Seacliff, Sattley and Lake Tahoe for boating and BBQs. Rick was an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoyed watching all types of sporting events with his sons, family and friends. As a member of the SJSU Quarterback Club, Rick attended nearly every SJSU home football game as well as many away games. His true joy, however, was attending nearly every sporting event of his sons. From football to basketball to baseball, he was their biggest fan. Rick was the Dad’s Club Treasurer at Bellarmine College Preparatory where his eldest son, Mark, recently graduated. He was also an active member of the Holy Name Society at St. Christopher Church. Professionally, Rick served in a number of Senior Finance Positions spanning over three decades in the Silicon Valley. Rick was a highly respected and valuable asset to each team.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Jeanette (Turner), two sons, Mark (18) and Spencer (13), brothers Tom, and Robb (sister-in-law, Emily, niece, Hannah), mother-in-law Connie Turner, Marianne DeMarco (Frank), Tom Turner (Linda), Steve Turner (Becky), Julie Haff (Larry), Pat Turner, Debbie O'Grady (Kevin), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. All who knew him will truly miss Rick’s spirit and gusto for life.
We thank the tremendous support of our St. Christopher, Bellarmine and SJSU communities during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s name may be made to the SJSU Spartan Foundation, One Washington Square, San Jose, CA, 95192 or to Bellarmine College Prep, 960 West Hedding, San Jose, CA 95126.
There will be a Rosary Vigil held Thursday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Lima Mortuary in Willow Glen. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 20 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Christopher Church in San Jose, followed by Burial at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery with reception following.
