October 6, 2005 to January 2,2024
Rayven Loki Williams, 18, of San Jose, Ca, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2024, following an epileptic seizure. Rayven was born on October 6, 2005, in San Jose, CA to Ryan Daniel Williams and Nicole Zurek Nguyen. Rayven lived with her mother, Nicole Nguyen and stepfather Dennis Nguyen, three sisters Allison, Catherine, Scarlett, brother Dean and grandmother Georgette. In addition, Rayven also shared the home of her father Ryan Williams and grandmother Mary Young Williams. She is survived by her paternal grandparents, Patrick Williams (Papa) and Lynn and her Aunt Nicole (Kiki) Williams as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Rayven’s friendliness, innocence and joy, as well as her struggles, touched so many lives. Rayven struggled with epileptic seizures her entire life but those seizures did not define her. She loved her routines at her home with her brother and sisters especially the trips to Sonic and Grey Wolf Lodge. Rayven's home with Dad and Grandma included trips to Golfland, Great America, Chuck E. Cheese, restaurants and arcades. Rayven was known as “the Great Rescuer” at the CLAW machines and she loved the competition of the video games at both homes.
“Everyone knows Rayven” as her friendliness and joy greeted everyone she encountered at restaurants, walks around the neighborhood, at the pool, the mall and at community and church events. Rayven always stopped to pet an animal or ask a child, “Ah, you’re so cute; what’s your name?” She loved interacting with everyone.
Rayven had just graduated from Evergreen Valley High School and was attending Calero High School for the post secondary education program (life skills). Rayven’s teachers, at all grade levels, have been attentive to her needs and she was outspoken when she struggled. She talked often of her teachers and classmates and her activities at school. Rayven was also fortunate to attend the Special Needs Ministry at Cathedral of Faith, the Shining Stars Respite program at Calgary Church, and various other community events.
Rayven’s sudden departure leaves us with tremendous sorrow; she will be forever loved and greatly missed by her family, school, community, and “strangers who were friends she had yet to meet.” Rayven’s life impacted so many others with her courageous battle with epilepsy her entire life. Despite her struggles, she approached each experience with friendliness and with a straight-forward, innocent and loving outlook on life.
Services to honor Rayven will be held from 12 to 4 on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Oak Hill Funeral Home, San Jose, CA.
