My condolences to the Barone Family. I knew of Mr. Barone through his daughter Shelley. I remember a kind man who loved his family.

I was a member of the first 6th grade class at Ida Price, and scared to death.  Although I never had an opportunity to meet Mr. Barone personally I was walking from the office one day when he stopped a student, wearing a really short skirt, and asked her to stand in front of the mirror and tell him what she saw was wrong.  I was young but admired the fact that Mr. Barone did not put the student down.  Thank you Mr. Barone for your lessons and I know you are resting in peace.

Phil was truly loved by his superintendent's group who have missed his great smile and zest for life.  He made us laugh, and he made us dance.

Phil also generously supported the Italian educators all through the years personally and professionally and insured that teachers and administrators knew they could accomplish whatever they wanted in life.  He will stay in our hearts as we salute him with a glass of wine and a plate of pasta when we get together.

May beautiful memories give you strength at this difficult time.

When I saw the obituary notice in the paper this morning, my first thought was "Phil Barone was  truly a gentlemen and role model for what an educational leader should be."   

Phil was the leader of our La Verne University doctoral cluster here in San Jose and provided much guidance and support to the 24 of us who were beginning the Ed.D program at that time.  

He was a fine role model for educational leadership and never failed in meeting an obligation.  He led by example and always gave freely from his considerable experience. 

I'm proud to have known him; he influenced my administrative career and certainly my four years in the LaVerne Organizational Leadership program.

My deepest condolences to the Barone Family, I remember Mr. Barone from Metzler Elementary School (soooo many years ago). No-one enforced the 'duck walk" around the basket ball court like he did. He was tough but always fair.  Thank you Mr. Barone for being the excellent educator you were.

I had the pleasure of working with Phil Barone during his time of volunteering for the IAHF.  We appreciated all that he did for our community and the County of Santa Clara.  His family are in my thoughts and Prayers.

I remember Mr. Barone well.  When I went to Fammantra School in San Jose. I was a bad boy.  I pulled a chair out from another kid, when he went to sit down, he landed on his tail bone.  Oh...man..  It was my turn to be in the hot seat.  Mr. Barone set me straight.  From that day forward, I will never forget what I had comming to me.  Mr. Barone had the best advise to this day.  Not to play practical jokes on somebody ever again that may cause bodily harm.  Thank You !  Mr. Barone.  I will never forget you.

So sorry to hear of Phil's passing.  He was a good nephew, cousin and friend to our family.  I have the fondest of memories of his cioppino feasts and the lovely family gatherings.  My family has tried (in vain) to duplicate his cioppino and finally gave up.  We now have a crab fest every Christmas eve and it's in large part a tribute to Phil.  I won't be able to make it to the funeral but my heart is with you and your family.
