Patricia (Pat) Ann Mann, 83, of Willow Glen, California passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California. She was attended to by her four children at her passing. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Pat moved to California at an early age. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Salvatore Maleti and brother Salvatore Maleti II.
Pat spent her early years in San Jose. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1958. From her first marriage she bore two children, William Verzi III and Kathleen Verzi. From her second marriage she bore two children, Robert Mann, Jr. and Julie Mann. She has always said that her children were her greatest accomplishment in her life. While a Marine wife she traveled the United States, making homes in Oceanside, CA at Camp Pendleton, Benicia and Vallejo near Mare Island Naval Base, Goose Creek South Carolina near the Charleston Naval Weapons Station, and in Overland Park near Kansas City, Kansas. She returned to San Jose in 1975, living in Willow Glen since.
Pat’s resiliency and ability to overcome all challenges was forged from many experiences, most prominently while as a wife of a Marine serving in overseas conflicts. Her perseverance was demonstrated by providing for her family of four children as a single mother. After her children were grown, her nurturing nature expanded to an extended family, with the most important to her being “Mama Pat” and serving up food at The Saddlerack Club for nearly 40 years. She also cared for and supported her co-workers at the San Jose Medical Clinic in Willow Glen. Her other passions included her beloved Oakland Raiders, attending all three of their Super Bowls and at one point, serving as San Jose / South Bay Raiders Boosters President. She was often involved in supporting others, such as helping the Blue Star Moms and many local Willow Glen community events. Pat became an event caterer for wedding celebrations and enjoyed her craft making and the pleasure that her creations gave to others.
Pat is survived by her sister-in law Carol Maleti, brother Ron Maleti, and sister Barbara Perry and her husband Steve Perry. Pat is mother to her children: William Verzi, III and wife Joanne, Kathleen Verzi, Robert Mann, Jr. and fiancé Christy Betts, and Julie Mann. Pat is grandmother to her grandchildren: Kristen Verzi and partner Bill, Julian Gonzales and wife Madeline, Adrian Gonzales, Stephanie and Jonathan Holder, Jonathan Verzi, David Bailey, Brooke and husband Austin Simas, Savanna Gilbert, Cole Gilbert, Lukas Mann, Dylan Mann. Pat is great-grandmother to: Ariana and Jeremiah Gonzales; Sheldon, Tashas, and Lumen Holder; and Naomi Gilbert-Gonzalez. Pat is an aunt to Joseph Maleti and wife Alex; Misty and husband Jimmy Caravayo; and great-aunt to Danika Caravayo and her partner Eli Rivera, Jimmy Caravayo; and Isabella and Michael Maleti. Pat is great-great-aunt to Maliyah, Amaia, Santino, and Emari Rivera.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation on Monday, February 12, 2024 beginning at 5:00pm
at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel located at 710 Willow Street, San Jose, CA 95125. On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, visitation will resume at 9:00am with the funeral service at 10:00am at the funeral home with a graveside blessings being said at 12:00pm at Mission City Memorial Park located at 420 N. Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
