Pacita Frias Custodio was born on April 19, 1931 in Pangasinan, Philippines to Alejandro and Anacleta Custodio and was the sixth of eight children. She graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila where she earned her BS degree in education. She taught home economics at San Carlos City High School and San Carlos College for 6 years before marrying her love, Navy serviceman Luis Garcia on Mar 5, 1961. Over the next twenty years, they had three children, Shirley, Orville, and Alma and were stationed in El Centro, Olongapo, and Whidbey Island before finally settling in the Bay Area.
Pacita worked in data processing and assembly for Hewlett Packard before starting a residential care home business with her husband, Luis. For 34 years, Pacita dedicated her time to taking care of her residents whom she loved like family. Her favorite pastimes were fishing, crabbing, growing vegetables and orchids, and being with her grandchildren. Pacita will be remembered most for her amazing cooking, her hard work, and her devotion to her family. She is survived by her husband, three children, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
