Maria Gloria Anderson

On the evening of December 22, 2023, Maria Anderson, passed away peacefully at O'Connor Hospital, San Jose, California.

Maria was born in San Jose, California to Margarito and Alberta Garcia on December 21, 1943. She was the oldest of six siblings: Easther, John, and the late Peter, Gloria and Roberto (Bob) Garcia.

Maria grew up on the East Side of San Jose in a time when it was mostly farmland. Waking up early every morning to help the family pick prunes, apricots, plums, apples and oranges before school started.

She attended Pala School from grade school to Junior High, then attended James Lick and finished her senior year at William C. Overfelt High School where she was the part of the very first graduating class in 1963.

Maria worked at Levi’s Strauss where in 1966 she would meet the man who would become her husband, the late Nathan Anderson. Two years later their son, Richard Anderson would be born on March 4, 1968.

Maria also worked as a private duty nurse providing aid at hospitals, nursing homes, residentials, or wherever her services were needed.

Her hobbies were gardening, cooking, knitting and crocheting.

Maria is survived by her son, Richard Anderson, her sister Eather Robleto, brother John Garcia. Brother-law Benny Robledo, Sister-in-law’s Maria Garcia, Dora Garcia and Susanne Heldt. Nephews: Dana Garcia, Josiah Garcia, Charles Worley. Nieces: Doreen Valez, Renee “Sara” Lopez, Denise McNamm, Stephanie Garcia and Marlene Garcia.
