Marcelo Hernandez Jasso passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday February 23rd being diagnosed with kidney cancer. Papa, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa was always a step or a phone call away from helping his children in any way to reach their goal. Marcelo was an excellent problem solver and could repair almost any mechanical or electrical device he touched. He loved to read all types of books and enjoys playing golf and his guitar. He also enjoyed watching football, western movies, and golf on TV.
Marcelo the oldest sibling was born in Sonora, Texas to Felix and Frances Jasso. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed at the Utah testing grounds. He graduated in 1957 from San Jose City College. Marcelo was a sheet metal mechanic and later in his career an Inspector of military vehicles; He worked for FMC Corporation / United Defense L.P. for 35 years. He raised a large family which included his wife, 5 children and his deceased parent’s children (his brothers and sisters). He was several times Commander for the East Valley GI Forum and was Chairman of 2 American GI Forum State Conventions and 2 American GI Forum National Conventions.
Marcelo is survived by his 3 loving children Rachel, Paula, and Marcelo Jr. He is also survived by his 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Family and friends are welcome to the Final Viewing Tuesday March 3rd, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am at Oak Hill Funeral Home 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125 in the Chapel of the Roses. Right after will be the Funeral Services which will start at 12:00pm.
