Lyle was born to Lloyd Hansen and Theresa (Hennessey) Hansen on June 18, 1945 in Minot, ND. When he was 11 years old, his father died, and he moved to Mooseheart, IL with his mother and three of his sisters, where he completed his High School education, Vocational and R.O.T.C. training. After graduation in 1963, he moved to California, which became his home for the next 54 years. In 1967, Lyle was drafted into the U.S. Army, served 2 years in Vietnam followed by 2 years in the Reserves and completed his military service when he received his honorable discharge in 1971.
Lyle was a handyman of all trades and enjoyed photography, traveling, camping and spending time with family and friends. He would be there to help anyone in need and expect nothing in return. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He cherished the time he had with his grandchildren and loved to spoil them every chance he had.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debra Hansen, son, Eric (Lupita) Hansen of San Jose, CA, daughter, Erica Hansen of Hollister, CA, grandchildren, Diego De La Hoz of San Jose, CA, Giovanni De La Hoz of Hollister, CA, Hailey & Hector Vasquez of San Jose, CA, sisters, Delaine Harold, Meredith (Lynn) Goodwin, and Lugene (Bryan Harold) Paprocki, all from Vancouver, WA, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Van de Erve and Lila Beck.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6625 Camden Ave., San Jose, CA on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 12:00pm, with Bishop Courtney Black officiating.
