Luis Chavez Cabral born February 22, 1940, passed away peacefully April 24, 2017. Luis is remembered as a warm, loving and hardworking husband, father, and grandpa. Upon immigrating to San Jose from Mexico at 15 years old, Luis tirelessly helped support his family by working for local Kato-family owned farms. The rest of his career was spent working as a mold maker in a local foundry and the remaining 35 years in construction. At the age of 21, Luis met his wife and German native, Edith Cabral, while both were enrolled in an evening ESL course. Their love and marriage rooted itself in East San Jose and resulted in three caring and devoted children: Tomas, Diana, and Christina. Today, Luis is survived by his beautiful wife Edith, his brother, Fernando Cabral, his sister, Marta Galindo, three children, six granddaughters, three grandsons, and four great grandchildren. His ever-growing and close-knit family is an ongoing testament to the commitment and dedication Luis demonstrated every day of his life to ensure the health and security of his family.
