With heavy hearts, we announce that on October 19, 2023, Lucille Lorraine Mendoza passed on with her family by her side, at her home in San Jose, CA. A loving Mother, Nani and Friend. She is survived by her sons’, Rick and Tim Mendoza, Ben Vera and her daughters Gina Vera and Judy Mendoza. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Lucy was born on March 26, 1944 in Santa Maria, CA. Soon after, she moved to San Jose, CA with her parents John and Susan Rivas. Lucy went to Peter Burnett Junior High and graduated from Camden High School. Lucy then went on to graduate from Beauty College and started her career as a hair beautician. Along the way, she made many friends and then married Anthony G. Mendoza on November 21st, 1964. They built their custom home in Evergreen. With a career and family, she raised all of her children with love and family values. Lucy was also known for her amazing cooking, combining it with love and tradition. Lucy adored and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lucy could not wait to have them all packed in her home, as she enjoyed every minute she spent with each and every one of them. Lucy also enjoyed decorating her home for every holiday season, for the kids to see. Lucy did so much more, though she never complained about the pain or said “why me.” Lucy suffered with Parkinson’s and the effects of dialysis treatments for more than 15 years. When asked, she always said “I do it for my family. I want to be here for all of you.” Lucy gave her family unconditional love, unselfishness and the greatest gift of all, love. No more pain and suffering, Lucy is at peace.
Lucy, Mom, Nani, you will never be forgotten and most of all forever loved.
