Tran, Thi Lien was born in Ha Noi, Vietnam on May 28th, 1933. She departed this life peacefully in her sleep at home on Sunday, February 27th, 2022.
If you knew Ba Lien then you knew she was a force all on her own. She escaped a war torn country with her five kids and fought to provide a good life for them in America. She turned her talent and passion for cooking into many succesful restaurants, delighting the community with bun cha ha noi and cha ca thang long.
She had an adventurous heart and was always ready to try anything; do anything; and BE anything. She would “done deal” life’s obstacles and wash it all down with listerine. Stage 4 lung cancer, a broken hip, war, and poverty never kept her from excelling in life— all so that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would have it better. She was a formidable woman and loving all at the same time. She will be deeply missed and always remembered; each of us carrying a connection to her spirit, honoring her, as we make our way through our own lives. We find comfort knowing we will meet again one day.
