Leslie Ann Kenton passed away on September 28th, 2016 from complications due to breast cancer. Bad Les was born March 5, 1946 in Kentfield, CA. She is preceded in death by her mother (Dorothy Kiernan), her father (Francis Kiernan) and her dear sister (Carole Johnson.) She is survived by her husband Robert, her children, Alisa(Travis) and Joshua(Jennifer), her granddaughters (Kyra and Emma), her brothers Daniel and Michael, her aunt, several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Leslie grew up in Marin County and from all the stories she told us, she had a mighty fine time. She used to tell us that if we watched American Graffiti, that was her teenage years in Marin.
After graduating from Marin Catholic, Leslie received her nursing degree at the O’Conner Hospital School of Nursing in San Jose. During this time, she met Robert and they were married in 1967. Although Leslie never practiced nursing following graduation she was always the first one we called for medical advice. After several years of being a stay at home mom, Leslie re-entered the work force, working part time as a pharmacy technician at the Villages Pharmacy for nearly 20 years.
Being a lover of true crime books, Leslie was thrilled with the advent of Court TV and being able to watch the trials of the Menendez Brothers and Betty Broderick on her days off. She also was an avid movie fan and was often referred to as the original “Internet Movie Database”. If you needed to know who “that guy” was from “that one movie” she was your girl. Her passion for pop culture lives on with her children.
Bad Les didn’t have many regrets, but she was disappointed that she wasn’t going to get to see what happened in the Presidential Election this November. Hopefully the knowledge that she did not reside in a swing state made it a little easier for her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15th, 2016 at Oak Hill Funeral Home from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Alisa’s brother-in-law, John Burke. John is currently battling cancer and a Go Fund Me page has been set up to help the family with medical expenses. Please search “Another 10 Years” at www.gofundme.com or contact the family for any additional information.
