Leonard is predeceased by his Mother Rita Bond, Father Fred Moe, Step father Bill Bond, brothers Bob and Ernie Moe.
Leonard is lovingly remembered by Daughter Janine, Son Martin, Granddaughter Bella and Niece Debbie.
Leonard was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1939. He graduated from James Lick High School in San Jose in the year 1957. He enlisted in the US Navy and served for three years and transferred into the Navy reserves and was Honorably Discharged in 1963. He learned the machinist trade in the Navy and worked for Raytheon for 33 years until his retirement.
Leonard enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed camping ,fishing and taking trips to Eagle Lake in Oregon. He enjoyed working in his garden growing his tomatoes, corn ,squash and keeping up with his lemon and orange trees. He took great pride in working with his hands building, repairing and making things. He enjoyed watching Sprint car racing at the San Jose Speedway at the Fairgrounds. He loved the 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. He was able to go to the San Francisco Giants Game for his 80th Birthday with his family. He enjoyed volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank and at The History Park in San Jose where he was able to help restore Antique SJFD vehicles and apparatus. He really loved Country music and enjoyed going to Nashville to the Grand Ole Opry, going to Sam's Barbecue to see the live performers. He enjoyed going to see the live performance of Charlie Daniels. One of his favorite things was going out to eat and trying to find the largest plate on the menu. He loved his food!
Leonard told many stories of growing up on the farm and his childhood when the family moved to California. The stories he would tell of his time in the Navy and the different ships he was on. All of his wonderful fishing stories and his camping trips were a pleasure to listen to. He enjoyed going to watch his Granddaughter play soccer and softball and was able to see her Graduate High School and College.
The Funeral service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose on Friday December 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Chapel of the Oaks.
In lieu of Flowers memorial donations may be made in Leonard's name to Disabled Veterans Charitable Service Trust.
