Ong Kiet was an extraordinary man. We know this from talking to him on the phone and stories that my dad told me about him. We are also fortunate that we got to see him last year. Our dad would always talk about how Ong Kiet cared so much for him and the whole family, and how he once carried him as their family was fleeing from the war. When he called, he would always ask how we were doing in school because he wanted us to have a better future. He would always tell us two things, stay and in school, and help out your parents around the house. We will always try to meet those goals. 

When we heard the news that you had passed, we named the battleship we were building after you, U.S.S Kiet Ba Hoang. It is engraved with the south Vietnam flag of which you so bravely fought for. We hope it makes you proud.

Rest In Peace Ong Kiet. We love you and will  always remember you.
