John Stanley Esquivel

John was born in Brawley, CA but his parents, Stanley and Mercedes Esquivel moved the family to San Jose, CA shortly after his birth. John was the oldest of 6 siblings Cecilia Esquivel, Virginia Molina, Connie Espinoza and the late Esther Reyes and David Esquivel.

John attended James Lick High School and finished his study of carpentry at San Jose City College. He further enhanced his skills working alongside his father, and mentor Stanley Esquivel, for numerous years acquiring the skills and hours necessary to become a journeyman carpenter. His career spanned just under 45 years, most of where he worked for his favorite boss and friend Stan Huffaker from Huffaker Construction & Concrete. He retired in 2005 from Carpenters Local 405. After retiring, he would begin his next full time career as “dad” and “grandpa” to his daughters and numerous grandchildren. He continued his love for building and constructing things with numerous hobbies around his home, ie planting roses, building planter boxes, cabinets, etc. He moved on from home projects to building other things like classic car motors, modeled cars, stereos and equalizers, and more recently is obsession with building bikes and

visiting the bike shops in San Jose.

John is survived by his loving wife Linda Esquivel; daughters Tracy Tarin, Stephanie Esquivel, Tara Esquivel and the late Eileen Madrigal and grandchildren Frankie Esquivel, Monica Fagen, Charissa Duarte, Steven Cortez, Allyssa Esquivel, Jessie Ceja, Larry Tarin Jr., John Tarin, Breanna Hernandez and Sophie Ortiz and 12 great grandchildren. His generous, loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 11:30a.m. to 12a.m. and visitation from 12-1:00pm at Willow Glen Funeral Home, 1039 Lincoln Avenue in San Jose. Gravesite Service and Burial to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery at 2pm.
