Joel, I worked with you for more than 10 years, that’s a decade long, and during this time you became like a brother to me.  We worked, we shared, we exchanged stories,  we joked about retirement and found reasons to laugh.  Your warmth, character, and integrity added to my experience at work. I learned from your attitude towards life. Even when things were hard, you wore a smile and showed love for life. The classroom has never been the same without you. There is a memory of you in every corner of the class and I cherish them all, my brother. I am grateful for having come to know you and thank you for being there for me throughout the years.  I miss you, Joel! Enjoy your early retirement!

Joel, mi gran amigo y hermano en Cristo, te nos adelantaste pero  te quedaste  en nuestra memoria y corazones.  Nos quedan los buenos recuerdos y la calidad de ser humano que fuiste, tu  buen sentido del humor y las  charlas que teníamos cuando nos era posible, queriendo arreglar el mundo y nuestro país. Más  que un amigo un hermano.  Buen siervo y  fiel ... entra en el gozo de tu Señor. 

When I think of my Tio Joel, I automatically think of his laugh. It was contagious; it was loud, sincere, big-- just like him. 

Don't get me wrong, my Tio wasn't exactly the tallest, but what he lacked in height he made up in more ways than one. My Tio was special, he was humble, cultured-- he was a man of God and an incredible friend to man. His personality was radiant, vibrant, strong-- my Tio was the sun.  He brought warmth, patience, and love always. 

I remember when I met his last girlfriend; I specifically remember going up to her and asking her if she was Mrs. Tio Joel.  I had never heard him laugh so hard... As much as the thought of his departure saddens me, I find consolation in the fact that I know he's laughing with my grandmother, grandfather, and my Tio William, and I cannot wait for the day where I am beside them. Death is only the beginning of what God has for us, and I'm thankful to know that my eternity will be spent with him.




It was hard seeing Tio Joel go through all of that. Looking back at the way things were back when they were fine brings both tears and smiles. He was such a cool and caring person. I'll forever cherish any moment where he was involved. Rest easy Tio, thanks for the laughs, times you helped out, and the memories we shared during games. As we would always tell each other, "Visca Barça".

Joel, while your journey with us here is over, I find consolation knowing that you have joined our loved ones to stay with them for ever and to receive each of us as we departure from this place we can't call home. 
You will be missed each and every single day. I don't even know how life will be without you for all your siblings. I will treasure the wonderful memories of our time together, long hours talking, trips to the beach to catch up,  your unconditional help, your love for my children, and much more. We were truly blessed having you brother. Love never ends 💜

Little brother you left on your own terms and chose the weather you loved the most! Always a step ahead lil bro! I am sure you left knowing how much you were loved and how much you will be missed! It is not a good bye but hasta pronto little bro! We will catch up soon and keep on enjoying  your laugh and the pleasure of your presence!  I will miss our daily emails and the twice a year phone calls! You leave a space difficult to fill you one of my favourite people! I love you  Joel! 😭  Yo te extrañare  🥺

A boy of ten you were when I started to know you. And since then, you showed the way on how to afront life. 
Laugh as much you can,  nothing must be taken seriously,  nothing is worthy to be worried to the extreme,  avoid the ignorant and trouble marker, keep life quite-simple, surrender to the unknown, and when we have to go,  let it go. 
Thanks for sharing with me fifty years of joy.

There are no words that can describe the deep emptiness that you leave in my life dear brother. It is also difficult to explain all the virtues that characterized you. You were in the good times and the bad for those who needed you. I have no doubt that you left a deep  impression on all the lives you touched. My only consolation is knowing that you only got ahead of us, that you just went to sleep, to wait patiently for your loved ones that we will arrive later. My heart is completely destroyed by this physical separation, but I know that you took many stars in your crown and that there is a very beautiful place waiting for you. I love you and I will love you as one of the most special people in my life until my last breath. Thank you brother for everything you gave me and for being so noble, so humble and so wise. Without realizing it, you taught me many things. You leave me struggling with a hole that nothing and nobody will be able to fill.

My brother Joel was always there for me! He was sincere, kind, genuine, honest, very responsible, and he always showed love for his family.  Joel took a piece of my heart when he left us , but I know that he will keep it with him until we reunite again.  I love you my dear brother, you will be deeply missed!!!
