Jim M. Gonzales

Jim Gonzales, 92, of San Jose, CA, passed away on December 23, 2023. Born on May 1, 1931, in Milpitas, CA, Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, in-law, brother, uncle and neighbor.

Jim was known for his infectious smile and his friendly nature. He had a knack for striking up conversations and making everyone feel welcome. He was a devoted family man who cared for his wife, over the past several years, with unwavering love and dedication.

In his professional life, Jim was a hands-on learner in the field of construction. He was a hard worker and instilled the same values in his children. Jim was a jack of all trades, believing that anything could be fixed with a little dab of cement. His resourcefulness and dedication to his craft were admired by all who knew him.

Outside of work, Jim had a few hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed listening to music, spending time at the casinos, tending to his trees and rose bushes and meticulously maintaining his yard. He took great pride in his 1965 Chevy truck and had a deep appreciation for classic cars. He could often be found tinkering and socializing, in his garage, and working on rebuilding his own classic cars. Another passion of his was watching wrestling aka "The Wrestles" every night, cheering for his favorite wrestlers and passionately despising the villains.

Jim will be deeply missed by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Alice Gonzales, daughters; Irene Uribe and Ruby Galli, his son Jim Gonzales Jr., and his sisters Dolores Cruz and Patsy Garcia, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Canuto A. Gonzales, his mother Frances M. Gonzales, and 7 siblings.

A Mass will be held in his honor on February 22, at 11:30 am, at St. Lucy's Catholic Parish, located at 2350 Winchester Blvd, Campbell, CA 95008.

Jim Gonzales will be remembered for his warm heart, his zest for life, and his unwavering love for his family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
