Jesus G Rivera

loving wife Maria Rivera of 69 years, 8 children: Rosie Rivera MacFarlane,

Yolanda Rivera Stickle, Carmen Rivera Belmares, Jesse, Gerardo, Jaime, Roberto

and Mario Rivera, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jesus along with his wife Maria and their family of five children immigrated to the

United States in 1957. They settled in San Jose to raise their family which

increased from five to eight children.

As soon as they settled into their new life, Jesus worked various fruit orchards of

Santa Clara County, the local canneries, as well as at his brother-in-law's gas

station where he learned automotive maintenance.

Always eager to learn and to advance himself, he attended night school. Within a

short time of their arrival, Jesus became an auto mechanic. He studied at De Anza

College to keep current on automobile technology. He became a Master auto

mechanic. He retired from Santa Clara Valley Transportation where he had worked

servicing their large fleet of vehicles.

After retiring, Jesus and his beloved wife enjoyed traveling. They took two trips to

Europe with their church group. In addition to their trips aboard, they enjoyed

annual trips to visit relatives in Mexico.
