Esmee was born to a happy family in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines on August 20, 1972. Her dad Samuel was an agriculturist and her mom Eva was a pharmacist. She has two loving brothers; Edwin and Edward. She graduated cum laude with a degree in Psychology in the Jesuit-run Xavier University. She became a Medical Representative of GlaxoSmithKline where she was consistent top sales performer. In 2009, Esmee migrated to the United States and married Dan Hartman. They later have a son named Daniel Samuel. She was employed at Macy’s, then with pharmaceutical Eisai before breaking into the top pharmaceutical company in the United States, Johnson & Johnson.
Esmee’s fight with cancer started in December 2019 when she was diagnosed Stage 2 Breast Cancer. In December 2021, it was found that her cancer had metastasized. She did everything she could to extend her life for her son, the love of her life.
Esmee dared to live life to the fullest. She worked hard and enjoyed the fruits of her hard work. Her co-workers here in the United States and in the Philippines, touted her determination to excel at her job that brought her numerous awards. She was well travelled and enjoyed the places she visited. She loved to take photos of everything that caught her fancy. She dressed fashionably and enjoyed looking her best. She was successful in many avenues of life but her most cherished role yet was being mother to Daniel Samuel. Esmee adored her son and gave him the best life and looked forward to having grandchildren. Esmee’s family and friends can attest to her zest for life; she cared and loved deeply and always looked at the bright side of life. As one friend aptly remarked, "You bring rays of sunshine in our lives"
Life was not always rosy for Esmee. People close to her knew of the obstacles and trials she encountered in life. But she was persevering and optimistic no matter how dire the situation was. Most of all, she remained steadfast in her faith to God until the very end. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7)
