Del Bliven joined his beloved wife of 53 years, Helen June (Kight) Bliven, on July 28, 2014. He is survived by his son, Wes Bliven, his granddaughter, Jocelyn Bliven and his daughter in law, Beth Eschenbach.
Del was born on groundhog’s day in 1922 in San Francisco and was a lifelong resident of California. He served in the Army in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He worked for the Pacific Telephone company for 37 years before retiring in 1983. In his retirement he was an active member of the Sons in Retirement (SIRs) enjoying golfing and the luncheons.
Del was an involved and caring father, a loving husband and a wonderful grandfather. He was well loved by neighbors even before he began giving out his homegrown tomatoes. Many neighborhood children stopped at Del’s house to get their bicycle tire blown up or to tell Del about their troubles. He willed be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the memorial service which will be held on Sunday August 3rd at 12:30 PM in the Chapel of the Roses at the Oak Hill Funeral, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA 95123.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the American Cancer Society.
