Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, David Raymond Gaxiola, passed away on April 13, 2022, at the age of 83 due to kidney and heart failure. He dedicated his life to his family and his trade, working as a construction worker for more than 40 years.
David was born in Oakland, CA on August 15, 1938 to Raymond and Rachel Gaxiola. Growing up on a farm, the family moved to San Jose, CA where he attended Campbell High School and was a star athlete as a wrestler who received several awards. After high school, he entered and completed his carpenter apprenticeship, going into the construction field to support his family. He was a hard worker and good provider. As a construction worker and foreman, David’s work touched structures throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and as far away as Nevada and Idaho. He spent most of his life in San Jose, CA where he built many friendships. David moved to Bonney Lake, WA last year to live with his son and family under same roof. During this time, he was able to spend more time with his granddaughters who he adored and loved dearly.
He was a devoted fan of San Francisco 49ers and wore the team logo apparels with pride. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, games of blackjack, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Cecelia, his son David, daughter-in-law Jenny, and granddaughters Jiyu and Jini, his brothers Paul, Robert and Gabriel, his sisters Rachel and Rebecca. His parents, older sisters Beatrice and Marie, and step-son Michael preceded him in death.
