I am very saddened to read these news. I have a memory of Carlos when we were beginning our Peace Corps service. I did not speak any Spanish and he was fluent. I stuck to him to help me navigate those first few days. He was kind, funny and patient. This is such a loss. My prayers go to all his family and friends. 

My deepest condolences to Carlos' family.  I just learned of Carlos' passing from a former Peace Corps Volunteer and am very saddened that he's no longer here contributing to the good of mankind.
I met Carlos in 1989 as part of a group of Peace Corp Volunteers in Honduras--- and during our initial in-country training developed a  good rapport.  This was very meaningful to me as I was an "elder" in the group and he was very kind and helpful.  He was an exceptional young man and I will always think warmly of him. 
I last talked with Carlos a few years ago and he still sounded the same.    May he rest in peace for eternity.

What a wonderful tribute to our friend Carlos today.  We were blessed to know such an awesome person. I worked with Carlos in San Jose Environmental and Code Enforcement in the early 90s. Carlos's and I were partners in the non point source program. He truly had a heart of gold. He was such a hard worker, and a good friend.  He made work fun. Later I would run into Carlos in passing, and there was that same joyful smile. He would always stop to  chat, and he beamed with pride when he spoke about his family.  He was a genuinely good man and is gone way too soon. He was an angel on earth. God bless his beautiful family, and may his legacy live on through them.💛🙏💛

Carlos, we were four months apart and were always being compared. It began with our height. I had four more inches on you, 1 inch per month, it didn’t seem like you ever caught up - ha ha ha ha, but you made up with it with your personality and charm and that’s what counted.
We shared a baby bottle in our childhood days together running around in original zapetas, playing with our toys after Christmas and going to pre-school together.
We shared sodas when we studied together during the times when our families would come by during the week to visit. We both excelled in school and in life that’s one of things we shared as we were always equal when it came to that. 
We shared beers and Bacardi and coke when we partied together and looked out for each other making sure we got home safe. We laughed about the goofy experiences we had with girls we knew and held each other when thing did not work out. We were both proud of ourselves in accomplishing our rebuilds of the first cars we owned. 
We were both happy when we met that special someone and settled down. You were especially proud of the family you helped reared and create new memories with  with your beautiful children. 
Carlos, when the time comes, I look forward to seeing you and talking to you about the the events of life you watched us experience, until then I will truly miss you my brother! 

Carlitos, as I would call you, I’m Still in disbelief - gone too soon. One thing that reminds me of you is the amount of keys you had attached to your belt. No matter where you were or what you were doing you always had this abundance of keys on you… To what? I never asked.  
I will miss your beautiful smile and your cute chuckle. I loved the good old days when you, Ruben, Rick, and Victor would gather.  Lots of laughs.  Thank you for being like a brother to Ruben. He especially will miss you, will miss talking with you. 
The day I heard you passed, I prayed to my mom and dad and my father-in-law to greet you with awaiting arms. Until we meet again, love you Carlitos 

My beloved friend  Carlos, I met you when you were only 8yrs old through your cousin Ruben Alva. We went to school together from Elementary, Junior high, and Until we graduated together from Sunnyvale high school. What a great day that was! From there forward we were always getting together with your cousins the Alva’s, and our close friends. We both loved working on our hobby’s our cars,  your 56 Mercury was a beauty and my 71 GTO was my passion. You were going to college when you were working on your 56 Mercury and your other projects as well. We went through our great times together, and our challenging times as well. But we always made time to talk about what what was going on in our lives, you always provided positive advice, and I’ll never forget those times.
b ecause we both faced challenges in our lives like everyone else. You were the Best Friend I ever had! You were Always Patient, Respectful and Humble. We would get together for lunch at Chick-fil-A when we had time, you would always talked about your family and how they were doing, as well as I. You were a Loving Father and Husband to your familia. I am truly saddened inside that you are no longer with us, and will miss you very much. I considered you like a Brother, and loved you like my Brother. Words cannot express the loss of such a beautiful soul most all my best memories growing up was with you the memory will live on in the hearts of his children and everyone else that was fortunate enough have you in their lives you're the best brother and an even better friend

I would like to send my condolences to his family. I worked with Carlos at the City of Santa Clara before choosing a new path. He was never without a smile on his face which is evident from the many pictures that have been shared. He will be missed but never forgotten.

So sad to hear Carlos has passed. He was a nice man and great to work with. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace Carlos.

My deepest sympathy to Carlos' family...  I worked with Carlos in two places at City of San Jose--Code Enforcement and Housing.  He was one of those guys who always had a smile and was easy to approach if you needed help on a tough case or just needed to share a laugh.  At Housing, he was our lead=based paint expert and one of the core members of our inspection team.  He was smart and genuinely cared about the families he worked with. 

I always admired how devoted he was to his family and how we would both enjoy bringing our kids to work  on the Kids to Work days, which he organized so well.  My son and I also fondly remember coming out to visit him and his family at their ranch.  We had so much fun.  My heart breaks for his family, and I will always remember his kind nature and smile.  May God bless Carlos and his family always.

Carlos and I were often paired up in the Environmental Enforcement Division where we walked creeks to locate non-point source discharges.  We engaged in  spirited debates about politics, gender roles, world events, etc.  He was a prankster as well and thought it was funny to move my  work vehicle after I had left for the day and park it on a different floor.  I couldn’t stay mad at Carlos because Carlos had a kind heart, a deep sense of responsibility for family that earned my respect.  And of course his sense of humor that made work fun.    My sincerest condolences to  the family.  He is gone too soon.   

My heartfelt sympathy to our fellow JET!!!   Gone too soon!   My condolences to Carlos' family!  May his memory be eternal, and may you all find comfort in those memories!!!

Carlos i miss you so much. You were always such a great brother...... my heart goes out to paula and the kids. You were the most honest hardworking man felreat husband and father. I love you rest in peace nay you be by dad now give him a hug from me.

Dear Azcona and Gandara family, my heart breaks to know the huge loss Carlos leaves in our our hearts. 

I met Carlos and Ricky Ramirez at Benner Jr. High when we were 11 years old! Both would tease me all time.   We continued our friendship through our college years at San Jose State. They asked me to invite female friends so I invited Paula Gandara who hesitantly showed up at one of the college parties. They met and later on married and had beautiful children. Then my brother married Paula’s baby sister, Velia. Carlos, Paula and their children became our family too! 

I will miss Carlos at our family functions and our talks about City Ordinances! 

Carlos leaves a huge void in our hearts.  My prayers go out to his gorgeous children and wife. We are here for you. God bless you.
