Audrey Lois (Westfall) Osler went to her eternal rest on October 18th, 2022. She was born to Harry and Edith Westfall in Kewanee, Illinois, on August 28, 1927, the eldest of 6 children. The family later moved to Davenport, Iowa. She was known by several names, Audrey. Lois, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma.
The family struggled through the Great Depression, though thankfully, Harry was employed at least part time. In WWII, Lois worked on scrap drives to reclaim valuable materials for the war effort.
When she was 18, with $20 in her pocket, she got on a bus to California, where she spent the rest of her days. While there, she explored Hollywood, before answering an ad for help at the famous Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park. Eventually, she went to work as a telephone operator, which was how she met her husband, Wilbur (Bill) R. Osler. The couple moved to Stockton, CA, where Bill and his step father built a home for the family. In Stockton, the first four of their sons, William, James, David, and Michael were born.
The family moved to Sacramento, briefly, then to San Jose, where the fifth brother, Kevin was born. San Jose was Mom's residence from 1965 forward. She watched all of her boys grow up and start homes of their own, and she helped raise some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The result was 5 sons, 9 grandkids, and 12 great grandchildren.
Husband Bill always said that he expected to find his late relatives fishing on Beasley Creek, in Colorado. Mom, I know you weren't crazy about camping, but I hope you and Dad can work that out.
After 95 years, you deserve a long rest.
