Diana Vlacich passed away peacefully at her home in Pasadena at the age of 89 surrounded by loving family. Throughout her life she excelled in all her endeavors, both during her career and in retirement as she pursued her interest in art. As a life-long learner and avid reader, Diana deeply inspired and enriched the lives of those around her. Her humility and wisdom, instilled in her by her parents, along with her life experiences, have been significant and meaningful examples to live by.
Diana (nicknamed Biggy) graduated from Woodbury College with a degree in Business Administration and enjoyed many years working at Security Pacific Bank as Vice President in their Trust Department. She served as President of the Eagle Rock International Toastmistress Club; President of the National Business & Professional Women’s Club of Los Angeles; and President of the Sunset District Business & Professional Women’s Club, which comprised 22 clubs in the Los Angeles area.
Diana received a Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Contribution to Security Pacific National Bank at their Lender Luncheon (1976), which honors the Leadership of Women in Civic, Economic, and Cultural Life of Greater Los Angeles. She also received the Woman of the Year award (1979) from the National Business Women’s Weekly.
She served as President of the Gamble House Docent Council (Pasadena) for 2 years and was involved in their Docent Training Program (9 years). She also served as Docent at the Huntington Library (San Marino).
Diana is survived by nieces Marilin Hyder (Bill), Surprise, AZ and Carolyn Koch (Lee), Modesto, CA; nephew Alan Vlacich (Lin), So Pasadena, CA; cousins Gerald Petievich (Pam), San Gabriel, CA and John Petievich (Gudrun), Palm Springs, CA; and many loving great nephews, great nieces, extended family members and friends.
The viewing will be Friday, August 12, 2011, 5:00-7:00 P.M. and the services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. Both will take place at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 1640 S. San Gabriel Blvd., San Gabriel, CA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church or Shriners Hospital for Children, 3160 Geneva St., Los Angeles, CA 90020.
Immediately following the Graveside Service there will be a gathering of family and friends at the residence of Lin and Alan Vlacich, 1340 Mountain View Avenue, South Pasadena, CA 91030. Valet parking will be available.
