Yola, the daughter Italian immigrants, Alfredo and Enrichetta Panneli, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2022 at St. Mary's Medical Center at the age of 101 & 1/2. Yola was the beloved wife of the late Louie Ferralis. Yola is survived by her daughter Judy Fossat (Ron Alvarez). Cousins ; Cora Feierbach (Gary), Marissa Marcucci (Lino), Angelo Torre (Delfina) and all of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nephew Gary Sultana (Sandra); she will also be greatly missed by our little Stella, the family dog, who gave her so much comfort and joy!
Yola was born in Humboldt Co. CA on August 7, 1920. After several years the family moved to San Francisco and settled in North Beach on Grant Avenue. Yola graduated Galileo High School and Healds Business College and then went to work. She retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. after 30 years of employment.
In 1938 the family moved from Grant Ave.to Union Street where she resided until her passing. In 1942 Yola met the love of her life, Louie Ferralis and they married in 1943. In 1946 their daughter Judy was born. The little flat on Union was always filled with family and friends - fantastic meals - lots of laughter and story telling - and music - there was always music!
Even though Yola worked she still found time to become active at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, the School Mother's Club and the Salesian Boys and Girls Club as well as many other charity organizations over the years.
Retirement offered Yola and Louie time to train, trips to Italy, Mexico, Hawaii, and many cruises with dear friends and family. Louie was an active member of the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club and they attended all of the dinner dances, theme parties and Reno trips. They loved to dance and were sometimes the last ones on the floor
Yola's passion was her love of family and friends. Always loving, caring and giving - ner generosity knew no bounds. She worried about everyone until the end.
Now Mom it's time to dance again- Dad is waiting with open arms - You'll glide through the clouds and dance on the stars on a dance floor that never closes.
Private services held at Italian Cemetery. A Memorial Mass is being planned in August 2022 to celebrate Yola's life.
