Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a member of the 390th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion. Upon landing in France shortly after D-Day, he fought across central Europe through V-E Day and then supported the occupation efforts.
After his discharge from the Army, he returned to San Francisco, where he met his future wife, Frances Fong. They married in 1949, then established their home on Potrero Hill where they raised their four children: Deborah, Daniel, Victoria, and Cathryn and later enjoyed their retirement years.
Bill became passionate to see the world, including faraway exotic locales. He and Frances visited the cloud forest in Costa Rica, walked the Great Wall of China, and viewed Paris from the Eiffel Tower.
Bill and Frances had a long and happy marriage and celebrated their 65th anniversary last year.
Bill is survived by his wife Frances, and his children Deborah, Daniel, Victoria, Cathryn and his son-in-law Mark. Bill was a loving husband and father. We will miss him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6th at 11:00 am at Halsted N. Gray-Carew & English, 1123 Sutter St., San Francisco, followed by interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Colma.
