William (Bill) D. Pieri

William (Bill) D Pieri, 93, native of San Francisco passed away and rejoined his awaiting bride on July, 3rd, 2014. He was born in San Francisco, CA, on June 4th, 1921, to the late Achille and Susie Pieri.

Bill was a member of the 846th Engineer Aviation Battalion in WWII where he fought bravely for our country spending active duty in Normandy. Received WWII Victory Medal, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the Medal for Good Conduct. Upon his return he married Eleanor Smith on September 4th, 1948. They lived together in San Francisco before moving to Los Gatos in the early 1990's.

Bill is survived by two children, Carole Pierson and Michael Pieri, along with two grandchildren, Jesse and Celeste Pieri. He is also survived by son-in-law Al Pierson and family. Bill was beloved by countless others including members of the community, long standing members of Club Unique, extended family and of course the Poker players he would play against every first of the month.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18th, at 11:00am at Halsted N. Gray-Carew & English, 1123 Sutter Street, San Francisco followed by Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
