A native of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines, she was born October 6, 1935, to Alfonso and Honoria (Mambaje) Lacorte, the youngest of four children. Tita, as she was known to many, studied nursing at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, and came to the United States in 1963 for her studies in Ophthalmic Nursing at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She married Edmundo B. Nery in 1966 and had two children, Jose and Melissa. In 1973 the family moved to Wisconsin where Tita worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for close to 20 years. In 1996 she and Edmundo retired and moved to Florida to enjoy life in the sunshine state. She finally made her way to California in 2021 to be with her daughter, Melissa, and her wife Mirna.
She is survived by her son Jose A. Nery, Minneapolis, Minnesota; daughter Melissa Nery and wife Mirna Rivera, Napa, California, sister-in-law Dolores Lacorte, nieces Jovita Dwyer, Norilyn Santos and husband Sonny, Hildalene Miguelino and husband Ben, nephews Cesar Lacorte Jr. and wife Filamer, and Jeff Lacorte and wife Imelda, and many other nieces and nephews from the Avila, Lukban, and Nery families.
Friends will be received at San Francisco Columbarium and Funeral Home, San Francisco, California on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with prayer at 6:00 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial, will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 3:30 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Napa, California, with Fr. Ismael Mora, Celebrant.
Interment will be private.
