Mike Angel Leon passed away suddenly after a tragic accident on Friday May 17, 2019. He was born on May 20, 1966 in Los Angles California to his beloved mother and father, Evelia and Margarito Leon of L.A.
Mike, a creative and talented student, after graduation for St. Monica High School in Santa Monica, Mike went on the Otis Parsons School of Design and graduated with a bachelors degree in Art and Design.
Soon after college Mike moved to San Francisco and opened a jewelry store in the North Beach district where he owned and operated it for several years. Mike was known for his artistic
jewelry and created many beautiful pieces for family and friends.
A true entrepreneur and business man, Mike later purchased the SF Eagle Bar and became co-owner of one of the most famous and historic gay bars in San Francisco that had been closed for some time. Mike reopened SF Eagle to its finest and now is a very popular establishment for the gay community. Mike hosted weekly "Beer Busts" at SF Eagle for many San Francisco Non Profit organisations. Mike was a community leader and cared deeply for others, giving generously to so many people in need.
Mike was loved and respected by so many people far and near. During his 25 years living and working in San Francisco namely the North Beach district, Mike was known for his big heart, generosity and kindness. Mike did not know a stranger.
Besides his parents, Mike is survived by his husband t"The love of his life" Ben Ames. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Nancy Leon Copeland (Glen) and nephews, his mother and father in law, Dave and Deb Ames, brother in laws, Matt (Beth) Ames, Mark (Kate) Ames and many aunts, uncles, cousins and long time friend Wags.
A Memorial Mass will be held, Wednesday, May 29th at 10 30 am at Saints Peter and Paul Church located at 666 Filbert St.,, San Francisco,. CA 94133. All are welcome. A private gathering will follow for family.
