

Mary Alasia, matriarch of her family passed away peacefully on November 5, 2022 at her home at the age of 107. She was born in San Francisco on November 4, 1915 to Emilio and Enrichetta Vigo. A native San Franciscan, Mary was raised in Cow Hollow and lived there her whole life. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Guido, her cherished son Robert, grandson John Alasia, sister Lena Genasci, brother Mario Vigo and sister-in-law Lena Devincenzi.
Mary attended St. Brigid's Grammar and High School in San Francisco.
In 1940 she met the love of her life Guido Alasia and they were married on September 27, 1941 and were married for 71 years until his death in 2012. Together they built a life full of adventures spending time with family and making wonderful memories. They traveled around the world with a group of friends they affectionately called "the gang" They are waiting for Mary so they can all be together again.
She leaves behind her daughter Lynn, son in law Fred, cherished grandchildren Lisa Alvarez (Fidel), Michele Pfeifer and Robert Alasia (Bradlee) and beloved Nana to five great grandchildren Olivia Francis, Samantha and Giovanna Alvarez, Kylee and Dylan Alasia and many loving nieces and nephews. She was a proud and loving dog Mom to Tamale, who was her best friend.
Mary was an avid 49'er Faithful for over 50 years.
She was a lifelong member of Madonna della Guardia and served as Treasurer and ICF Branch 50
Last but certainly not least, we cannot begin to find the words to express the depth of our appreciation to her blessed caregivers Taina, Maata and Sala who provided her with loving care, compassion and patience. They were truly gifts from God to Mom and we will remain eternally grateful to them, and to Hospice and the wonderful team.
Mom, you led our family with kindness and were always there for us. You gave us thoughtful advice and were generous with your praise. You taught us to listen and observe the world closely. You taught us to be thankful for what we have and not lament what we don't have. We will miss your optimism, enthusiasm for living and your sweet smile. Your loving spirit will always be with us.
A Mass of the Catholic burial will be on November 15, 2022 at St. Peter and Paul's Church, 666 Filbert Street, San Francisco at 10:30 am. Reception immediately following at the Italian Athletic Club. Private burial.
