Born on April 5, 1928 in Vineland, New Jersey, John was strongly committed to his faith, his country, his community and his family.
John was the quintessential self-made man, a man of quiet, keen intelligence, integrity and generosity. He always lived by a strong moral and ethical code, setting the highest standards as a caring and supporting husband, a gentle and loving father, and as a dedicated community leader for deserving youths and seniors.
John founded Bracco Distributing Co. (distributors of Anheuser-Busch products) in 1963 and built the business into a highly successful, profitable and well-respected company. His extraordinary success can be attributed to his savvy business instincts, sound judgment, common sense and strong sense of love and compassion for those that worked with him and for him. John served as president of the California Beer Wholesalers and as President of the Anheuser Busch National Wholesalers for 5 years.
John was extremely proud to have served his country in the US Army, stationed at the San Francisco Presidio, as a Military Police officer, a very proud American.
John has received many honors throughout his lifetime, including the NIAF Special Achievement Award, Boys Town of Italy's Man of the Year, and the Recreation Center for the Handicapped Banner of Love Award. In 1994, he received one of the highest honors from the Italian Government, the prestigious Commendatore Award.
John was a supporter of the Boys Town of Italy, Il Cenacolo, the Italian Community Services, Liguri nel Mondo, NIAF, Catholic Charities and Epiphany Center. A proud member of the Olympic Club, Silverado Country Club, Villa Taverna and the San Francisco Opera Medallion Society.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Romana, his daughter Kathy, his grandsons Andrew and Nicholas Bracco and their mother, Cheryl Bracco and his faithful canine companion "Giorgio."
John was predeceased by his first wife, Audrea and their son, Raymond.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18th from 4 to 8 pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Halsted N. Gray-Carew & English, 1123 Sutter Street, San Francisco. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 19th , 10:30am at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 666 Filbert Street, San Francisco. Private Interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's name to the Boys & Girls Town of Italy, the Italian Community Services or a charity of your choice.
