John A. (Jack) Anderson, Jr.

Born in Brooklyn, New York Dec. 21, 1922 and passed away in San Francisco Feb. 27, 2016.

Raised on Long Island and Manhattan; 3 ½ years in World War II. Aerial Gunner on B-17 bombers. Combat in European theater in 8th Air Force, 401st Bomb Group, Deenthorpe, England. After war, college degree from Miami University. Played piano in dance bands and jazz groups for college expenses. Played one summer for Fred Waring Organization. Began advertising career at BBDO Ad Agency on Madison Ave. Account executive on several accounts, including deSoto and Plymouth, sponsors of Groucho Marx's 'You Bet Your Life' TV show.

Sr. VP at J. Walter Thompson Ad Agency in New York, later assigned as Managing Director of San Francisco Office.

In retirement wrote book called 'The Society Ball Murders', a satire on San Francisco's beau monde. (Walker Publishing, New York.)

In his later years played golf at Lincoln, Golden Gate, and Harding Park, until he couldn't see the ball anymore . Got 2 holes-in-one – first at Golden Gate Park (75 years old), the other at Fleming Golf Course in Harding Park (85 years old). That was when he could still see the ball.

More than anything, Jack loved his family most of all. Married to his beautiful, loving wife, Gail, for 52 years. Adored his wonderful children: daughter Robin Watson, his 3 sons – John III, Samuel and Christopher and grandson Jack Talbot Watson. And 2 great cats, Rex and Roxy.

He will miss all his dear friends, and hopes it's vice versa.
