James Milo Staley, known as Jim to his family and friends, passed away the morning of August 9, 2021 in San Francisco, CA. He is survived by his wife, Joselyn, his children and their spouses, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and countless of friends and family.
It is hard to summarize a person as special as Jim. He was a man of few words, but limitless unconditional love. To know Jim, was to feel like you were his family. He was kind and accepting of everyone he encountered. He was a loving partner, a supportive parent who always asked his girls to find lessons in life's challenges and ways to move forward. Jim was a funny, kind, loving and active “Papa”/grandpa.
We could share all the accomplishments that Jim has achieved, but we would rather share with you his last conversations with us in the weeks leading up to his death. Jim mostly talked about what brought him pure joy; his grandchildren, martial arts, food, Hawaii and his wife, Joselyn. Hawaii always held a special place in his heart, as he grew up there, swimming in the ocean and eating all the tasty foods. He traveled all around the world enjoying the variety of food it had to offer. Jim talked about his time with the children on the Salesian Martial Arts Team and how it was more than just teaching a defensive skill; it was being there for those children, making sure they had the skills to grow into exceptional adults. Jim stressed to all who came to see him that we all must be kind to one another. He shared with us how much he has overcome throughout his life and how blessed he was to come this far. Jim’s greatest treasures were his grandchildren, as they brought so much happiness to his life. He talked about the life he had built with the love of his life of 45 years and all the happiness they shared. Jim also talked about how incredibly lucky and blessed he was to be surrounded by so many people who loved him unconditionally and had never left his side. Jim shared with us his visit to the Lord our God. During his visit with the Lord, he said “You are never alone. Someone is always there to help you through this journey.”
Jim, we will never leave your side.
In Remembrance
In lieu of flowers, we are seeking donations to pool together for a couple of nonprofits that Jim held close to his heart; Salesian Martial Arts Program and Saints Peter and Paul School.
If you’re able to contribute to Jim’s remembrance gift, you can send money via Venmo to Jade Staley (Venmo ID - @jadems). Or if you prefer to donate by check, please send checks to Joselyn Staley at 3212 Shelter Creek LN, San Bruno, CA 94066. Jade will be using her employer matching program to donate this money to both nonprofits, which is a 3:1 matching program.
Many thanks.
