George Daniel Gemignani was born in Niles, California, in May, 1936. When his father died from a stab wound trying to defuse a bar fight, his mother remarried Thomas Brittain, a manager at Schilling Spice Co. in San Francisco.
At a young age George acquired the nickname Chuckie, later often becoming Chuck.
At just a few years old, George moved with his family to 34th Avenue in San Francisco where he attended elementary school, Lincoln High School, and graduated with a B.A. In Mathematics from San Francisco State College.
He accepted a Mathematics teaching position at De Anza High School in Richmond, CA where he taught for 37 years until retirement in 1996. He was a master teacher, with several years his math club students winning regional math competitions at St. Mary's College in Moraga.
George enjoyed travel—to Asia, Europe, U.S., Canada. He was known for easily making friends, a good bridge, cards and board games player, as well as great culinary skills and known for his friendly, witty comments.
His grand parents died in the Spanish flu epidemic. His mother's remarriage meant he had many relatives, in the Sacramento Valley to Italy, Hawaii, and many of whom he kept in contact with.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends, and relatives.
