Passed away peacefully on August 12, 2014, after a brief illness. Emily was born in Isleton, California to the late Mr. and Mrs. Sing Wong. She was the loving sister to Norma Chan and the late, Bessie Kodis, Edna Chew and Willie T. Wong. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Jang and son, Dr. Christopher Jang. She is survived by her son, Dr. Jeffrey S. Jang, daughters in law, Terri and Cyndi and grandchildren, Brittany, Mitchell, Brent, Naomi and Natalie.
Emily grew up in San Francisco, where she graduated from Girls High School.
She then attended UC Berkeley and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Food Chemistry. In the early years of the St. Mary's Drum Corp, she enthusiastically played the snare drum in many a Chinese New Year parade.
On August 3, 1952, Emily married John S. Jang. They made their home in the Sunset District of San Francisco. She enjoyed her many years of work at the UC Med Center Hospital Payroll Dept., while raising her two boys, Christopher and Jeffrey, both San Francisco dentists. She enjoyed family vacations in Lake Tahoe, fishing, gatherings with family and friends, playing mah jong, cooking, attending exercise classes and church. Emily's unwavering commitment to family and faith will forever be imprinted on our hearts.
