Daniel was a wonderful fiend. 
I have many comforting memories : our rehabilitation days at the VA where we both became employed as counselors . More recently, We had wonderful motorcycle ventures. He rode like he was bulletproof, splitting traffic at 70 mph--way to fast for me.
I still have an empty feeling in my gut when I think that I'll give him a call and realize that he's gone,
I love you Daniel Hogan.  I will always have you in my heart .

After returning home, Daniel earned a Master’s degree in Psychology, and started a family with his wife Susan who he loved very much, and his son Christopher who was the apple of his eye.  Daniel served many roles over the course of his career, all with the aim of helping those in need.  This included: 
•	Working for the Veteran’s Administration, helping fellow Veteran’s overcome substance abuse  
•	Running a successful private practice as a Marriage, Family, Child Counselor
•	Working directly under Mayors Frank Jordan and Willie Brown to alleviate San Francisco homelessness 
After retiring from his career of service, Daniel was able to achieve his dream of becoming a real estate investor.  He put his carpentry skills and entrepreneurial spirit to use by acquiring and developing rental properties in Vallejo.  
Daniel was able to see his son get married to a beautiful and caring daughter-in-law, Roxana, who Daniel loved very much. 
Daniel enjoyed spending time riding motorcycles with his best friend Will Lister and discussing Zen Buddhism with his buddies and shared a deep connection with his fellow veterans group members.
Over the course of his life, Daniel touched the hearts of many and has helped us all at one time or another.  Now his soul is at peace, because he is finally home. 

Daniel was born in San Francisco in 1948 to his loving parents Grace and Frank. He always said they were the best parents and gave him a wonderful childhood. He grew up in the Bay area with his older brother, Jack and younger sister, Maureen, and graduated from Mills high school in Millbrae. Daniel had fond memories of a being cub scout with his brother and his Mom served as the Cub Scout den leader.  
Later, he and his family moved to LA where he and his brother had pet snakes, iguanas, his sweet Labrador Sheba and a tortoise named Oliver. He loved being close to Disneyland Land and Knott’s Berry Farm where he played for hours in frontier land, panned for gold, and ate the best fried chicken with berry pie.
As a teenager, Daniel was an avid surfer, and would hitchhike with his friends to the beach every chance he could.
Daniel joined the Marine Corps at 17, and was honored to serve his country. He was sent to Vietnam in 1966 at the age of 18 and wounded in May of 1967. The family is forever grateful to Charles Lauer who saved Daniel’s life over 50 years ago. In June, the month after Daniel was wounded and sent home Corporal Charles Lauer was killed.  We honor his memory.


RIP my friend , we met in 3rd grade and remained friends thru High School . We renewed that friendship by chance in a VA PTSD group . I will miss our talks . Forever .  Larry
