Amy Leigh Wolters, 52, resident of San Francisco, California, left this earth unexpectedly on October 23, 2023. Amy was born on June 26,1971 in Jefferson City, Missouri to loving parents, Kenny and Alice (Luebbering) Wolters. From a young age, Amy filled the lives of those around her with joy and adventure. She was known for her big heart, beautiful smile, incredible kindness and compassion, and bravery.
A 1989 graduate of Helias High school, Amy went onto pursue a degree in Psychology at the University of Missouri – Columbia. Upon graduation, Amy’s first career was in social work where she believed she could truly make a difference and help others. Even though Amy left that career she never stopped trying to help others and was an avid volunteer at institutions that helped the most vulnerable.
Amy’s passion for fun and adventure led her to a long tenure in the food, beverage, and spirit industry beginning with Glazer’s Distribution, then Constellation Brands, and most recently Amy was the National Account Manager for Luxco. Her work allowed her to fulfill her passion for travel taking her to live in several major cities including Denver, Dallas, Seattle and finally San Francisco.
Amy is survived by her parents, Alice and Kenny, who were her rocks. She loved her three brothers, Jon (Tricia Workman), Kevin (Melissa), and Ken (Laura), deeply. She treated her sisters in law like sisters, and her nieces and nephews were her everything. She treasured her time with Norah, Jace, Kai, Harlan and Sienna and was beloved by all of them. Amy also had a large and loving extended family and many dear friends. Amy is preceded in death by her Grandparents Lawrence and Hattie Luebbering and Emil and Rosanna Wolters.
Two of Amy’s biggest passions in life were helping others and traveling. She was able to do both in 2012 when she bravely traveled on her own to a small village in Ghana, Africa staying for nearly a month. While there, Amy lived in the village and worked with children in the local school. Amy had always intended to return to Africa for an extended stay.
While Amy’s time on this earth was too short, she lived life on her own terms, followed her dreams and impacted everyone around her. The family intends to have a Celebration of Life at a later date. If you wish to honor Amy’s life and legacy, please consider donating to Project Abroad as the proceeds will help the village and people of Ghana that Amy so dearly loved. You can donate at:
