Yvonne Inez Clay Federico was born on May 25, 1953 in Chicago, IL. She was the fifth of eight children born to her parents, Rev. David D. Clay and Mrs. Josephine Burch Clay. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of eight by her father, Pastor David Clay, at Maryland Avenue Baptist Church. She was an active member of MABC and attended Sunday School, Church, BTU, and Youth Fellowship regularly. She also had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in the choir. Yvonne was a product of the Chicago Public School System and graduated from Chicago Vocational High School. She later attended Olive-Harvey Junior College and Chicago State University. Yvonne was blessed with two biological children - daughter, Lynette Renee and son, Mark Joseph. She also raised another daughter, Monica Clay. During her early work years in Chicago, she worked at Continental Bank and Sears. In 1978, her mother retired and moved to San Diego; so in 1983 Yvonne moved to San Diego to be with her mother and children. She joined Bayview Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Timothy Winters and was an active member of the choir. She got a job as a Purchasing Agent at the Department of Defense. Through her work years, she was promoted to Supervisory Purchasing Agent and Contract Specialist. Yvonne worked for the Department of Defense until her retirement in 2015. In 1986 she married Ruben Federico. She enjoyed being an active member with her husband of the Wheels of Soul Biking Club and they traveling across the country. They also enjoyed cooking together. Yvonne was very feisty and enjoyed helping others. She was a fighter and would fight for those who could not fight for themselves. She loved people and would go the extra mile for them if she could. She is survived by her husband, Ruben, San Diego, CA; daughter, Lynette, Temecula, CA; son, Mark Joseph (Maritza), Hemet, CA; daughter, Monica Clay, Houston, TX; granddaughter, Yvonnette Clay, Temecula, CA; sister, Lorraine Clay Stofer, Houston, TX; twin sister, Yvette Clay Muse (Clarence), Baton Rouge, LA; brothers, Homer Clay, Chicago, IL; and Kenneth Clay, Las Vegas, NV. Her sisters in love, Emma Wright-Mobius, Brunswick, GA; Deborah Wright-Mobius, Brunswick, GA; Linda Hersey, San Diego, CA; Kohola Hembre, San Diego, CA. Her sons in love, Chris King, San Diego, CA; Glenn Lord, San Diego, CA; Harold Cooper, San Diego, CA; and Terrance Smith, Emeryville, CA. Her Goddaughter Dusty Dean (her husband,Jesse), Thomasville, GA; Cheyenne Dean, Thomasville, GA and Adelynn Dean, Thomasville, GA. She will always be loved and missed by a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her parents, Rev. David Clay and Mrs. Josephine Clay; brother, David Clay, Jr.; sisters, Cynthia Clay Wilbourn, and JoAnn Clay.
