PETERS, William Eugene, “Bill,” Age 87, formerly of Spring Valley, California passed away on Thursday, 15 December 2022 at Scripps Memorial Hospital from surgical complications. He was born in ST. Joseph, Missouri on 20 November 1935 to Milford Lee Peter and Francis Vadonna Ball. He was raised and educated in Missouri, and later joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served his country for over 20 years and retired from the Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7). He was a veteran of the Korean conflict from 1952 – 1953 and the Vietnam conflict from 1955 – 1972. He was a highly decorated and distinguished member of the United States armed forces with technical and tactical involvement in the Apollo space missions, nuclear technology, and the Military Affiliate Radio Systems (MARS). After retirement from the Military, he joined the workforce and held civilian positions as an electrician at NASCO working on naval ships and vessels. He went on to work for Union Electric where he remained until he retired from the workforce completely. With his free time, William enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, camping, golfing, and all outdoors activities. In his later years of life, William enjoyed spending time inside and playing computer games. He is predeceased by his son Jeffrey Allen Peters, daughter in-law Sylvia Peters, and grandson Anthony Peters Jr. He is survived by his brother Jerry Peters, Jerry's wife Shirley Peters, first wife Betty Young and their children Anthony Peters Sr. and Gayle Way, her husband Donald Way, second wife Encarnacion Peters and their children Kenneth and David Peters, and daughter in-law Sherry Peters (Kenneth’s wife), 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.
The funeral services will be held with full Military Honors at 3:00 PM on 17 January 2023 at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr. San Diego, CA. 92122.
