Dr. Christie, lovingly called Bill or Dr. Bill, by his friends and family, was born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 25, 1947. Even as a child, he had the dream of being a physician. God granted that dream when, in 1973, he graduated from Georgetown Medical School, and began his medical practice in Ophthalmology in Coronado, California.
On March 7, 1984 he met Terri, his beloved wife in Coronado, California and they fell in love. They married on September 14, 1986 at the Hotel Del Coronado.
Bill and Terri enjoyed many years together traveling to favorite places including Kauai, Hawaii, Bora Bora, Green Turtle Cay, and Paris. As Bill and Terri used to say, there’s nothing better than being young and in love in Paris!
Bill was described as the Jackie Gleason of doctors - always animated, full of fun, and no one could tell a story better than Bill. His favorite song was “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. And he loved hockey, football, opera, and his cats. And of course, he loved his family and friends.
Bill loved to organize events, especially for his family and friends – he didn’t just love to have fun, he was the fun! He was the party!
He was a very generous man. He always stepped in to assist those around him and had a compassionate heart for the needs of others. He was usually the one family and friends called, and he always helped them in ways that made a difference in their lives. He also dedicated time to examine and help children from an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico.
In October 2019, Dr. Christie retired from the practice of medicine. Bill loved being a doctor.
Dr. Christie is survived by his devoted loving wife Terri Jean Christie, his sister June and her husband David, his nephew David James, his nieces Tracy and Dara, his great niece Isabella, his great nephews Anthony, Zachary, and James. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Mike and wife Suzy, John and wife Celia, nieces Shawna, and Corina, and nephews Todd and Wesley, and great nieces Shaylee, Shakiah, Sienna and Lily, and great nephew Riley.
