Willem Hendrick Bergman

Willem Hendrick Bergman, 89, passed away on August 2, 2012 at his home. Willem was born August 31, 1922 in Sumatra, Indonesia to Hendrick and Alice Bergman.

Willem married Frida Duren on February 12, 1947. To them two children were born, Jozef (Joe) Martin Bergman and Angela Joyce Ionka Bergman.

Willem had four grandchildren. Erik, Dannelle, and Jarrod Crosswhite, and Jonathan Bergman. Six great-grandchildren Brittany, Ian, McKenzie, and Kennedy Bergman and Marisa Crosswhite, and Chase Haver.

Willem and his family came to America in 1960, and settled in San Diego, California.

Willem worked as a machinist for 42 years. In his retirement, he loved to garden, travel with his wife, and enjoyed times with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, of the family home, daughter Angela and son-in-law, Brian Welsh, (Escondido Ca) and children Dannelle Crosswhite, and Jarrod Crosswhte (San Diego, CA) One sister Jopie (Hawaii) Daughter-in-law Sheryl (Bergman) Acosta, Grandson Jonathan and wife Missy and Children Brittany, Ian, McKenzie, and Kennedy Bergman all of West Plains MO and great-grandchildren Marisa Crosswhite and Chase Haver (Pensacola FL.)

Willem was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and grandson Erik.

Services will be held at 10:00am Thursday August 9, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Laboure Church. Burial will be in El Camino Cemetery
